AMAR SINGH SHERGILL
After practicing over fifteen years representing consumers, I started the Progressive Legal Network to give my fellow progressives an opportunity to work with attorneys that shared their belief system. I spend a lot of my time advocating for equity as Chair of the Progressive Caucus of the California Democratic Party so it troubled me to see so many of my fellow progressives working with attorneys that were obstacles in our struggle. Since I had built a state-wide network of attorneys that I worked with, I decided to offer the benefit of my experience to others like me.
I am active in the local bar community and am a board member of the the Capitol City Trial Lawyers Association. I was also founding President of the South Asian Bar Association of Sacramento and am a long-time member of the Consumer Attorneys of California. I am also proud of my membership in the American Board of Trial Advocates, an invitation-only organization of the most successful and experienced trial lawyers in the country from the plaintiff and defense bar.
I have an undergraduate degree in finance and completed my law degree at the University of North Dakota. During law school, I was the Intra-School Moot Court winner and a member of the Law Review. I have been admitted to the State Bar of California Bar as well as the U.S. District Court, Eastern District of California.
I live in the Sacramento area with my wife and three children. We have lived through countless diapers, soccer practices and swim meets. Now, my teenagers are making their dad proud with great grades, school leadership accomplishments, and occasionally even cleaning their rooms. My son and I are past champions of the Pack 329 Pinewood Derby while my daughters are the champions of my heart.
I love the practice of law because every day I have the opportunity to help people that are in need. I also love the work I do with progressive organizations around the country that are building a better future. Provided below are some media impressions of my work.
